The Ministry of Commerce, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh is mainly entrusted with the responsibility of dealing over all trade and commerce of Bangladesh. A brief presentation about the ministry is given below:

Administration Wing is responsible for internal administration and coordination of Ministry of Commerce.
Foreign Trade Agreement (FTA)
FTA Wing is headed by Joint Secretary (FTA). The responsibility of this Wing is to perform regional and bilateral trade negotiations (India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Myanmar, Nepal and Maldives) on behalf of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh; increase trade and economic relationship with European Community and with other international communities and organizations; and carry out responsibilities regarding generalized System of Preference (GSP) of the country, border trade and trade facilitation. IIT Wing
To ensure proper implementation of Trade organisation ordinance 1961 and Soceity Registation Act 1860 for facilitating the sector wise trade bodies of Bangladesh. Formulation and Implementation of Import Policy Order is another important responsibility of this wing.
Planning Cell
The main function of the Planning Cell is to conceive, process and monitor the implementation of development projects for the ministry. Ministry of Commerce by implementing development projects is assisting to promote the export oriented sectors of Bangladesh as well to improve the mutual understanding and joint visibility of partners by promoting civil society dialogue and facilitating interactions in the areas of economic reforms, trade related matters and economic culture co-operation. It is also trying to provide Business Development Services with a view to promoting Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the country. Export Wing is entrustred with the resposibility of promoting and help developing export of Bangladesh, formulation and implementation of Export Policy, solving export related problems & issues, Bilateral Trade Agreement etc.
